I forget the specifications for the run, so I will sort of make it up to convey the idea, but I think:

1. This was a commercial service train - with wheels, and not a magnetic levitation train.
2. I think they would have checked and serviced EVERYTHING before they did it - testing the wheels for balance and wear and cracks etc.. tons of details.
3. I suspect they washed and cleaned the eletrical insulators along the line - before pumping the voltage up (sort of making this up) from1500V to 2200V. and in other videos you can see the rear pantograph (thing that rises to connect with the overhead power lines) sparking like mad as the train races along.

There is a whole heap of different trains doing research and speed runs over a number of years....

Everything is so special on this train and track - look at the spacing on the sleepers.

And the track "looks" absolutely straight.
